Current situation
Cogent Europe is part of a US group.
They acquired Mona Group Reporting a few years ago for the monthly consolidated
reporting of the European subgroup.
On the occasion of the Users’ Day 2014
in Luxembourg, they explained how Cogent leveraged Mona Group Reporting across
the group to provide relevant information and documentation to several
stakeholders (management, analysts, tax authorities, auditors) efficiently and
perform a monthly hard close.
The Solution
Once confined to the consolidation of
the European sub-group, the usage of Mona Group Reporting has been spread
across the group to provide a variety of reports in several currencies:

Worldwide consolidated
financials in USD

Europe consolidated package
in EUR
·
American consolidation in
USD, Canadian financials in CAD …
·
A regional consolidated view
in USD
·
A roll forward revenue
(revenue by type of client, type of sale, type of product)

A rolling budget
The data is automatically imported into
Mona Group Reporting from accounting systems and databases. It includes both
financial data and non-financial data and is used to create monthly closing
binders and management binders, local and worldwide consolidated
reporting. A “flash report” consisting in a revenue analysis by product
type and by entity is delivered at D+11.
This is made possible through the use of
a set of functions and processes available in Mona Group Reporting:

The linked categories: they
allow the creation of different environments that share the same input data.
This functionality is very useful when it comes to create different
consolidation scopes (i.e sub-consolidations) or consolidations in different
currencies. For instance: the Canadian flash revenue is produced in CAD, the
European flash revenue is in EUR, while the consolidated flash revenue is in
USD with only one import into Mona Group Reporting.

The “point of views” makes it
possible to have a segmented view of consolidated data in the group currency.
In the case of Cogent, the Point of view is used for a regional consolidated
view.

The “dimensions” are used for
detailed activities reporting, revenue and customer analysis.
The Result
This highly automated process starts
with a single data entry point and offers multiple output possibilities, based
on different consolidation scopes and currencies.
The system also offers endless analysis
capability: per points of view, per category, dimensions …
The process provides the group CFO with
comprehensive and easy-to-navigate data to monitor performance. He has the
possibility to drill down into the data.
The system produces a set of various
reports, in a timely manner (monthly hard close at D+15!).
